Re: Let me prove my ignorance! TM-D700 programming/APRS
If you bridge the RTS and CTS lines it will essentially disable hardware flow control and work fine. I use cheap bluetooth adapters on mine this way. Every time it pulls RTS high to ask for permission

Update***, I am a dumbass!
I clearly read and wrote down notes to order a straight cable, just as the manual said to use.
However, without a thought, I typed in NULL, and got that instead!

Re: Let me prove my ignorance! TM-D700 programming/APRS
Thank you for the responses.
I love the original , though incomplete RS232c proto, however, we have dumbed it down to a half system from what it was. If I recall it was originally based on a 25 pin

First of all I hate "Standard RS-232
Secondly the USB cable you have has to be the right sex for the radio.
First try a null modem adapter to make sure that the RX lines up with the TX on the other

The first thing I would look at (because this always bites me when I have such issues) is that the serial port baud rate on both the computer and the radio match.

Re: Kenwood Junkie
I too enjoy a small collection.
I still use the TS-520 for AM, otherwise we use a TH-D7, the TM-V7a, and TM-D700. The V7a was my first real vhf mobile, I used an HT otherwise. I do enjoy the build

Let me prove my ignorance! TM-D700 programming/APRS
I am unable to talk to the TM-D700. well beyond screaming at it and expressing my sincere frustrations that it truly could be one of the kids, it listens and cleans my desk just as well.

Ok very good. Glad that worked. I use Icom commercial mobile radios for digipeaters and they do not have data plugs on the back. So we use the mic jack. When I first set one up I could not get it to

Where is your volume knob setting at. Radios that do not have a Data jack on the back necessitating using the mic jack it is important to note the position of the volume knob. I've seen Icom and

The cable rings out fine. Gonna look into the TNC for any needed jumper settings. Also, I have another TNC to try as well.

Yes, the radio is a TM-271a model, not the TM-271e model

Re: TM-271a Fails to Transmit
Is there a reason for not using the data jack on the back of the radio, instead of the microphone jack?
